The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised concerns over the formation of heatwave conditions across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana on April 7 and 8, coinciding with a forecast of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds, and hail over East, Central, and Peninsular India from April 7th to 9th.

Northeast India is also slated to experience enhanced rainfall and thunderstorm activity for the next two days, with a subsequent decrease in intensity. This warning comes amidst IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra's emphasis on incorporating weather conditions and climate considerations into planning for the upcoming general elections, as the country braces for intense heat during the election period.

Despite specialized forecasts being provided by the IMD to aid in better preparation, no changes to the timings of public rallies and voting have been proposed by the department.
